It's gorgeous--rectangular pieces of slate tile placed all over the base, and a shade that's wonderfully rich and warm with flecks of fiber running through. The base looks homemade, but not in a grade school way. The shade curves in a wave, which makes it hard to butt the lamp up against a wall (not that you would, but still...)
Overall very nice, but not the size for a bedside table. Definitely needs a lot of space.

This handsome table lamp from the Hunter Slateworks collection serves two purposes: to illuminate the living room or other part of the house in which it's placed, and to show off the beauty and variety of slate. The sturdy columnar base is made up of vertical stacks of slate, each one displaying different textures and grains in subtle shades of brown, gold, blue-gray, peacock, and russet. Adding contrast to the earth tones is the rectangular, fiber-grained, handcrafted paper shade that subtly ripples in a soft shade of rose. The base features a three-way switch and takes a 150-watt medium bulb (not included). The lamp measures 32 inches high; the shade, 14 inches in diameter.
